Gotta Wash That Gun Powder Out of My Hair (Wash Day-August 3, 2015)

I Won The Full Line!!
Hey everybody. I'm back with my wash day experience for the week and boy was it an experience. I am a correctional officer and I had in-service training this week. Part of the training includes shooting a .40 Smith and Wesson M&P handgun and a 12-gauge Remington Shotgun. Well I passed shooting the shotgun but didn't qualify on the handgun which was a first for me. I chalk it up to the 100+ degree heat and improper hydration. Oh well, I just have to go through remedial training and re qualify and I'm back in the game. The one thing about shooting weapons multiple times is that there is a risk for lead poisoning due to the residue from the gun and ammo when it is used and those particles can end up in my hair. In order to reduce the risk of lead poisoning, it is recommended to shower and wash your hair as soon as possible. So when I got home, I immediately jumped in the shower and cleansed my body and my hair. I didn't have time for a long, drawn out wash day due to the fact I had to be up the next morning for more training. So I pulled out my Creme of Nature Straight from Eden line that I won in a giveaway on Facebook (*cough* review coming soon *cough*) and got to work.

1. Shampooed with the Straight from Eden Natural Oil Infused Hydrating Shampoo. I really like this shampoo because of its detangling properties. Plus it leaves my hair feeling clean but so soft.

2. Deep conditioned with the Natural Oil Infused Hydrating Conditioner for an hour under a plastic cap. Now I want to like this conditioner. I am really rooting for it, but so far it is leaving me less than impressed. There is not much slip to me, but I want to wait for my review to really go into that. I will say that my hair doesn't feel worse after using it, but it doesn't feel like it is taken to the next level.

3. T-shirt dried my hair for about 20 minutes and then sectioned my hair into four quadrants to apply the Natural Oil Infused Leave-In Conditioner and Plant Derived Repairing Oil. I am enjoying the leave in because it really helps with detangling and the oil is not heavy but it does seal everything in. Detangling was a breeze because I waited until the end of washing to detangle so not a lot of hair was lost.

4. I smoothed my edges with some Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel and air dried my hair using the scarf method and after getting about 75% dry, I put on my satin cap and went to bed.

The next day I moisturized with Elasta QP Mango Butter and Olive Oil moisturizer and sealed with EVCO and then put my hair in a bun using my donut bun that I made with a black sock. For the rest of the week I kept my hair in a bun and moved it to a different place everyday to prevent breakage. I didn't get to take a pic of the bun, because bun selfies are difficult without someone to take the pic for me. Next time I have to recruit PJ to take my pics for me. Anyway, that was my wash day experience.

How has your most recent wash day gone? Let me know in the comments below and be sure to check out the Wash Day Experience for more.

    1. No I haven't noticed any kind of residue from the Eco Styler gel but then I don't use a lot of it.
